Saving the Hōiho is a proposed transition design that incorporates kelp as a key tool in aiding in conservation for the endangered Hōiho. The proposal looks at kelp farms acting as borders for protected coastal waters. Providing a distinct barrier that provides an opportunity for economic support. Kelp from these farms can be used to aid in people's iodine intake, can be used as a biofuel, and can reduce a cow's methane production by 80%.
These actions have a theory of change that come back to uplifting and caring for the Hōiho.
